TULARE, Tulare County — October 24, 2026. As tree leaves begin accumulating in local streets and yards, Tulare residents may want to plan for the city’s seasonal Leaf Vac Program. The City of Tulare Solid Waste and Recycling page explains that the program usually operates from the first Monday after Thanksgiving until the second Friday of January, with final seasonal dates posted when scheduling is announced.

Residents need to request a pickup

The city’s public description states that homeowners need to call to be placed on a pickup list. Crews then work through addresses according to the order the homeowner called. The program should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every neighborhood receives automatic vacuum collection at the same time, that every leaf pile can be placed in a traffic lane or that an unlisted address will be visited.

Where official seasonal details appear

The municipal Solid Waste and Recycling webpage is also the reference for regular collection days, holiday changes and special waste events. The city lists 559-684-4325 for its Solid Waste Division, located at 3981 South K Street. Published business hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays. Ask staff for the current leaf-vac request procedure and whether the season’s official start or placement rules have been updated.

Why dates require a current check

Thanksgiving is a recurring holiday but seasonal collection dates can change with workload, weather, equipment and staffing. As of October 24, California58 is reporting the city’s standard published seasonal window rather than claiming that a pickup schedule for every 2026–27 neighborhood has been issued. A citywide program outline does not confirm an individual pickup appointment.

Keep other waste programs separate

Tulare also describes paper shredding and electronic-waste drop-off events, landfill voucher weeks and household-hazardous-waste activities. These have separate dates and acceptance rules. Homeowners should not assume batteries, chemicals, electronic appliances or construction waste can be added to leaf piles or ordinary curbside collections. The city’s current event notices are the relevant authority.

The local accountability question

Residents can report whether seasonal services are readily accessible, whether hotline instructions are clear and whether collection occurs within a reasonable period after requests. Any specific delay should be documented with the request date and city response, not inferred from another neighborhood’s experience.
